Ingredients:

  • 400g flour
  • 1/2-teaspoon salt
  • 1-teaspoon baking soda
  • 225g unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 200 g granulated white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1-teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Royal Icing:
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cups icing sugar, sifted
Recipe Method:
  1. Sieve together the flour, salt, and baking soda thrice. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes) with an electric beater. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and beat until combined. Add the flour mixture and beat well until you have a smooth dough. Divide the dough in half and wrap each half in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for about one hour or until firm enough to roll.
  2. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C and place rack in center of oven. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Remove one half of the chilled dough from the refrigerator and, on a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 1 cm. Keep turning the dough as you roll, making sure the dough does not stick to the counter.
  3. Cut out desired shapes using a lightly floured cookie cutter and transfer cookies to baking sheet. Place the baking sheets with the unbaked cookies in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to chill the dough which prevents the cookies from spreading and losing their shape while baking. Bake cookies for about 8-10 minutes (depending on size) or until the edges are just starting to brown. Remove from oven and let cookies cool on baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling. Frost with royal icing, if desired. Be sure to let the royal icing dry completely before storing.
For Royal Icing with Egg Whites: In the bowl of your electric mixer (or with a hand mixer), beat the egg whites with the lemon juice. Add the sifted sugar and beat on low speed until smooth. If necessary, to get the right consistency, add more sugar or water. Add food coloring, if desired. The icing needs to be used immediately or put in an airtight container as it hardens when exposed to air. Sprinkle colored sprinklers onto wet icing if desired.

"When the liquid evaporates, the remaining protein residue (from the wheat, malt or hops) continues to strengthen and structure hair," says Belkin. Treatments can be applied every other week.

Whatever your hair-dehydrating demon—hard water, sun overexposure, your trusty flat iron—nature's sweetener can help. "Honey is a natural humectant, which means it attracts and locks in moisture," says Cox.
To Use: Massage approximately 1/2 cup honey into clean, damp hair, let sit for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water. You can also add 1 to 2 Tbsp olive oil to loosen the honey for easier application. For extremely sun-damaged hair, trying mixing honey with 1 to 2 Tbsp of a protein-rich ingredient, like avocado or egg yolk, which will help replenish the keratin protein bonds that UV rays attack. Treatment can be applied once a month. 
For Oily or Greasy Hair
"Used properly, [cornmeal or cornstarch] is an inexpensive way to remove oil and grease," says Belkin.
To Use: Pour 1 Tbsp cornmeal or cornstarch into an empty salt or pepper shaker and sprinkle onto dry hair and scalp until you’ve used it all. After 10 minutes, use a paddle hairbrush to completely brush it out. Treatment can be applied every other day.

Ingredients:
  • Mutton, washed and drained
  • Turmeric powder
  • Red chilli powder
  • Large lemon sized tamarind, extract pulp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil
  • Make a coarse paste:
  • Onions

  • Garlic flakes
  • Ginger piece

Steps to prepare:
  • Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel. Add the ground onion paste and stir fry for 5-6 mts. Add the washed mutton pieces and combine well. Cook for 8-10 minutes or till oil separates.
  • Add turmeric powder and chilli powder , combine. Cook for 2 minutes. Add 2 cups water and salt and cook till the meat is three-fourth cooked. (you can use a pressure cooker)
  • Add the extracted tamarind pulp, along with a cup of water and combine well. Let the mutton pieces simmer in this tamarind base for 20-25 minutes or till the meat is cooked and you get the desired gravy consistency.
  • Adjust salt. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  •  Serve hot with white rice.

The cucumber is a creeping vine that roots in the ground and grows up trellises or other supporting frames, wrapping around supports with thin, spiraling tendrils. The plant has large leaves that form a canopy over the fruit. The fruit of the cucumber is roughly cylindrical, elongated with tapered ends, and may be as large as 60 centimeters (24 in) long and 10 centimeters (3.9 in) in diameter. Having an enclosed seed and developing from a flower, botanically speaking, cucumbers are classified as accessory fruits. Much like tomatoes and squash they are often also perceived, prepared and eaten as vegetables. Cucumbers are usually more than 90% water.

  • 1 large cucumber
  • 1 tsp coarse sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp fresh dill, chopped

  • Peel your cucumber - or you can leave the peel on if you want - slice cucumber into fairly thin slices. Place into a colander and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Set on something to catch the water that drains off, and set aside.
  • Mix together sour cream, onion, dill, vinegar, and sugar. Cover and place in fridge.
  • Let cucumbers drain and dressing chill for at least an hour, up to 2 hours.
  • Before serving, rinse cucumbers under running water briefly. Pat dry with paper towel.
  • Toss dressing with cucumbers and serve.

Steps to prepare Ragi Dosa



Ingredients
  • Ragi flour
  • Semolina
  • Maida
  • Rice flour
  • Buttermilk
  • Water as required
  • Salt to taste
  • Green chilies
  • Cumin seeds
  • Coriander leaves
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil as required
Method
  • Mix all the above ingredients (excluding oil) in a large bowl. Add enough water to form a runny batter like thick buttermilk.
  • Pre-heat an iron tawa on high for a minute. Do the water test (sprinkle few drops of water over the hot tawa such that it sizzles) and reduce heat. Pour a ladle full of dosa batter from the outward base of the tawa in a circular motion. Fill the gap in the middle with dosa batter. Don’t drop batter like a thick lump but pour all over, evenly, filling the gaps.
  • Drizzle 1-2 tsps of oil along the edge of the dosa and the gaps in the middle.
  • Increase heat to medium flame and let the dosa cook for around 2 to 3 mts. If you want a slightly softer dosa, remove the dosa at this point. For a crisper dosa, increase flame to high and let the dosa roast for a half a minute or so
  • Remove to a serving plate and serve with sambar, chutney or podi of your choice.

Ingredients:
  • Grated coconut
  • Sugar
  • Water
  • Ghee, melted
  • Cardamom Powder
Steps to prepare:
  • Take a heavy bottomed vessel, add water and sugar and on medium low flame allow the sugar to dissolve and come to a boil. Stir it and allow the syrup to thicken. Let the sugar syrup cook and thicken till it reaches 2 string consistency. Test the syrup by using your thumb and index finger and touch the sugar syrup and as your stretch the syrup, it should form at least 2-3 threads. This takes approx 15-18 mts.
  • Immediately at this stage add the grated coconut, ghee and cardamom pwd and stir. Stir at regular intervals till the mixture appears thick and leaves the sides of the vessel. This could take about 15-18 mts. Turn off heat.
  • Immediately pour the mixture on to a greased thali (use ghee to grease) and spread out evenly with a spatula. Allow to cool and slightly harden. Cut into desired shapes and cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

  • Mango 
  • Pineapple
  • Water
  • Honey
  • Mint leaves
  • Ice cubes
Steps to prepare-
Blend 1 cup ripe mango pieces, 1/2 cup pineapple cubes, few mint leaves, 1/4 to 1/2 cup water, honey to taste and few ice cubes. Pour the cold mango pineapple juice into tall glasses and serve.
